autumn on the pond

The David Bowie line keeps running through my head when I look out and see the vivid colors of October, leading inevitably to the more somber black and white of winter.  So many changes , and they come and go so quickly now that we are in the autumn of our years ... or... late summer if we haven't looked in the mirror for a while.
